Been trying to get Legendary Skill Hunter, and trying to level up my pet phoenix.

Do pets gain EXP when you use a Signet of Capture?

The wiki says "Pets do not gain experience from quest rewards or mission completion, and are unaffected by experience scrolls."
So, my guess is no, they don't gain experience from you using a Signet of capture - but it's only a guess. So, I wouldn't count on it, but if you take the pet with you, it will level up from other experience generating events such as killing foes.

Just take it along and it will be level 20 before you realize it.
